Man, I just went out doing a little pawnshopping at lunch and found a killer 60s Rogers Powertone snare....in great shape.... I started chatting with the guy that was ringing me up and said that I'm always looking for old drums, etc....
He said he had some stuff in the back if I'd like to dig through it.
Well, in the back I found a pre serial number 5" Supra. That's a COB version for those of you that don't know. And, a craviotto/DW single ply drum with a 1992 date stamp inside.....missing a lug, hole in the bottom snare head, and broken snares....but I ain't complainin'. Dare I say that this drum is approaching a collectable drum since I believe this was the first year of the craviotto/dw partnership. It's one of the early ones.
I hate to even say, but i got the whole pile for $300.
I can't wait to get home now to play with all my new toys.....
Later,

Yeah, but if you only spent as many lunches, after work hours or weekends rummaging through dusty, dirty crap in neighborhoods where I'm taking my life in my own hands just getting out of the car....
Yeah, it was a find though.
Just what I needed since I'm about to drop stupid money on a brand new Starclassic Maple kit.

Nice score! I coulda had a '62 COB Supra quite a few years ago for about 200 bucks, but I passed. Now I kick myself - but at the same time...it's ridiculous how much they go for now(citing Ebay), just because they're brass... I borrowed the '62 from the guy who was selling it and a-b'd it with my '64 steel Supra and there really wasn't that much difference, from what I remember. ...Still kicking, though.
Since Johnny Craviotto has now split with DW, do you think that eventually all DW-era Crav's will appreciate in time? _________________ "No more beards." - Buddy Rich |

I totally think the crav's will go up. Especially the early ones. When I popped the heads off, I read the date stamp was actually 1990. This must have been a really early one. What year did that partnership start?

| Sadly enough, most of it was probably stolen. But nonetheless, awesome find! |
