Is it possible to cover bands like CoB or LoG with a four piece kit or am I kidding myself? I know I can do the verse and chorus parts easilly with my kit, but how would i do the fills?

it depends on how accurate you want to cover the song. if you want to hit every single tom that he hits in the fills, you need to have the right (or atleast close to) number of toms.

If your just wanting to do the basic idea, if he does 4 hits on an 8, then 4 on a 10, 12, 14, and 16, but you only have a 4 piece, then what you would have to do is split it between the only two toms that you have. So instead of hitting it 4 times on the 5 toms that you dont have, just hit it a bunch of times on the 2 that you do have

i dont know of that made any sence, but i hope it helped

If you want to accurately cover the song, I'd go with what Sketchy said, even though it is really accurate at all. I, however, would take the opportunity to add some of your own jazz or funk fills... it could prove interesting, haha.

If you dont have a double kick you cannot play this song, as for tom stuff, you can subsitute or floor tom as one of the rack toms Chris Adler uses.

But comeone your playing metal and all you have is a 4 piece.

Yeah I play metal on a 4 piece. But I'm not playing covers. Since I took away the 2nd rack tom I finally have my RIDE where I want it.

Practically every drummer in my area who is in a metal or hardcore band plays on a four piece kit. It seems to be the fashion at the moment. They all make it work though. In fact one of these bands cover 'Laid to rest' by Lamb of God. I'm sure it's not 100% accurate to what Chris Adler does but it does'nt really matter cos it still sounds good.

I took off my second tom and only have a high tom and a floor tom and i play metal all the time. Mostly bcc i have a double kick and plenty of cymbals, including a china, mini china, two crash, a ride, and a splash. Its a lot easier if you do some fills with the cymbals.
