I just dropped a couple grand today and I felt so empty to drop that much cash and come home with nothing but a receipt.

I ordered my new babies. 18X22 Virgin Kick, 9X12 rack, 12X14 floor, and 14X16 floor. All with vibrabands and elite mounts, mini lugs, 1 double tom stand, and one of those single tom holders that clamps to a cymbal stand. I ordered them in Quilted Makore with gloss laquer. Now I am not sure which heads to have them put on. All I know is I want the classic logo on the kick head. I usually play Ambassadors. I like coated single ply heads on my toms. What are the closest in ludwig heads? I assume their frosted medium single plys and medium clear bottom? The kick is my big concern. I want a nice deep sound without any ring. I use a EQ3 kick side and EQ2 front side on my 16X24 kick now and I love it. I just use a little bit of poly-fill stuffing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Peace,
T$

Congrats! I really like my classics. I think you've made an excellent choice!

I am also using the same EQ system on my 24 and I fully intend to go the same route when I replace it with the 22.

When it's time to replace my batter heads, I don't think I'm going to go the coated ambassador route. I went with them on tops and bottoms and I'll be honest, I wasn't all that thrilled with the sound. I think I'm going to go the double thin route.

im a ludwig artist and can tell you straight from the horses mouth that the ludwig heads are made by evans if that helps you. i use the heavy ones on my ludwig classics and they sound great. for a deep, dead kick, i just throw a pillow in there and it doesn't seem to matter what brand the head is.
